The 15 year-old Marlisa teenager from Mt Druitt, NSW beat 22-year-old Queensland crooner Dean Ray and folk-pop trio Brothers3 to the crown, securing a recording contract with Sony Music Australia and released her debut single "Stand By You", which debuted at number two on the ARIA Singles Chart and was certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association.
